Welcome to Action For Sama
My name is Waad al-Kateab. I am a Syrian filmmaker. I now live in London with my family, but Aleppo is my hometown.

I have been overwhelmed by the positive reaction from people around the world who have loved my film FOR SAMA, related to my experience as a woman and mother, and wanted to do more. This has given me a huge boost to work harder and use the documentary to create awareness and push for accountability for war crimes. That is why I created Action For Sama, to turn the incredible reaction to my film into positive action for people living in opposition-controlled areas of Syria.
My film and the attention it’s gathering has the potential to engage millions of people around the world with the true story of civilians and of a peaceful revolution crushed with force.
I want to spread awareness of the suffering of those living under bombardment and support the heroism of Syrian civil society.
